Website KU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center
The University of Kansas Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (KUADRC) seeks a research-focused, academically oriented neuropsychologist to join an elite, cohesive group of neuroscientists, neurologists, investigators, clinical neuropsychologists, and other professionals currently focused on research into Alzheimer’s Disease and other Related Disorders (ADRDs). The candidate’s primary appointment will be in the Department of Neurology, which maintains a robust and growing Neuropsychology Division. Appointments in other University Departments, when appropriate, is also encouraged.
The KUADRC is an NIA P30-designated national leader in AD research that supports and maintains a longitudinally characterized Clinical Cohort of over 400 cognitively intact, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia participants, as well as the region’s only tertiary referral Memory Care Clinic. Neuropsychologists currently comprise part of our Memory Care Clinic clinical care and Clinical Core research teams. We are looking to recruit a neuropsychologist with an existing, externally supported ADRD research program to further develop the Center’s ADRD neuropsychology research portfolio.
The candidate will work with the KUADRC Director to define and advance a personal research program. The candidate is expected to enter mutual research collaborations with other KUADRC investigators, both local and national, and to participate in manuscript and grant submissions of mutual projects. Ultimately, the candidate is expected to advance an independent research program, of their own choosing and emphasis, that is pertinent to the ADRD field. As the KUADRC will work with the candidate to identify and provide the resources needed to succeed in this endeavor, mostly what is needed is the desire to establish or expand an independent ADRD research program.
The candidate will establish a new, or expand an existing, ADRD research program with generous start-up funds that can be used to pay research assistant or postdoctoral fellow salaries, cover graduate student stipends, purchase equipment, and purchase supplies. The candidate will also receive their own laboratory or research space.
We will consider candidates at all academic levels, and confer an appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professorial rank based on experience. The candidate can choose a tenure or non-tenure research track assignment based on personal preference, and those with tenure at another institution, upon arrival, can move quickly to tenure review.
