The Northwestern University Neuroimaging and Applied Computational Anatomy Lab (NIACAL) is seeking applications for an early-stage postdoctoral research fellow.

We are seeking an early-stage research-only postdoctoral fellow to work on a project to identify neuroimaging biomarkers of non-suicidal self-injury in youths from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study.

Applicants should:

  • possess a PhD in psychology or closely related discipline (e.g. neuroscience)
  • have prior neuroimaging analysis experience
  • have a demonstrated research interest in non-suicidal self-injury and/or suicidal thoughts and behaviors

The project involves working with a large existing longitudinal dataset, the ABCD study. Previous experience working with large datasets will be viewed favorably. The successful applicant will join Dr. Lisanne Jenkins and an active research team and will be responsible for processing and analysis of existing ABCD data and write-up and publication and presentation of findings. There will also be ample opportunities for advanced training (Northwestern has a number of in-depth training opportunities), collaborations, building mentorship experience (learning to supervise undergraduate and graduate level trainees), and developing an independent research program. Significant attention will be placed on career development (e.g. conference participation, training in grant writing, peer review, mentorship, presentations, etc.). This is an ideal position for someone interested in preparing for a tenure-track job.
