Join a team that’s Changing What’s Possible – The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Pediatrics seeking a full-time Pediatric Neuropsychologist to join the Pediatric Psychology team within the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics is located in a major academic medical center that serves a diverse population of patients from a large geographic area. Learn more HERE.

Among the top programs in the country, the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics operates within the Department of Pediatrics at the MUSC Children’s Hospital and provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for the broad range of developmental and behavioral diagnoses. Division members currently include 6 M.D. Faculty, 7 Ph.D. Psychologists, 1 PhD epidemiologist, and 2 LISWs as well as Postdoctoral Psychology and DBP Fellows. The Division also runs a vibrant and actively growing clinical research program focused on developmental and behavioral disorders.

MUSC Children’s Hospital has consistently been the only institution in South Carolina to be ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s edition of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals.” MUSC is the only quaternary academic medical center in the state of South Carolina and is expanding rapidly. Many new opportunities are developing with the opening of the new MUSC Children’s Pediatric Subspecialty R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion, which offers comprehensive outpatient pediatric only services including specialty clinics, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, infusion procedures, and support services such as lab and pharmacy. The new Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital that opened in February 2020, offers state of the art tertiary and quaternary services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or school psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship and a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology.
  • Experience conducting neuropsychological evaluations with children with complex medical or neurological conditions.
  • Eligible for licensure as a psychologist in South Carolina.

Position Highlights:

  • Provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents with a wide range of neurological, medical, and developmental conditions.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the neuropsychological assessment of children with sickle cell disease and cancer/brain tumor histories including those undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and/or bone marrow transplantation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including oncology, neurology, hematology, and other pediatric subspecialties, to support integrated care.
  • Join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of seven licensed psychologists working alongside developmental-behavioral pediatricians, social workers, nurse practitioners, and other dedicated professionals.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and other learners within the division. Contribute to the APA-accredited Charleston Consortium Psychology Internship Program (Program Info).
